Intercultural opening of senior citizen work and care
The subject area "Intercultural opening of senior citizens' work and care" is established in the Municipal Integration Center through the position of specialist coordinator for intercultural opening of senior citizens' work.
The aim is to improve the opportunities for participation of senior citizens with an international family history living in Cologne in a needs-oriented and sustainable way.
To this end, barriers to accessing assistance and care services for senior citizens with an international family history are to be removed, taking into account individual and biographical obstacles, and existing services are to be opened up and expanded.
The focus of the specialist coordination work is on
- Cooperation with other specialist departments, for example the Office for Social Affairs, Employment and Senior Citizens
- Intensive networking with stakeholders from existing senior citizens' networks, intercultural centers, migrant organizations (MOs) and welfare associations in order to exchange information on the needs situation and jointly identify and incorporate further impetus for activities
- Participation in working groups to gain an insight into district developments and establish a regular exchange of information
- Participation in specialist conferences, trade fairs, workshops, networking meetings within and outside the city administration
- Regular internal exchange meetings with the Integration Council of the City of Cologne to provide technical support for its work and to report on current topics and developments
